ABOUT
As a little girl, Pegah Anvarian fell in love with designing outfits for her dolls. With the help of her grandmother, she learned how to sew, and found herself devoting hours to creating one-of-a kind pieces.
Some years later, while in high school in Dallas, she began making clothes for her friends and selling to several local boutiques.
In addition to her design calling, Pegah discovered an innate talent for styling that set her on a path from the Lone Star state to New York City where she established herself working on music videos and commercials. It wasn’t long before her visionary eye and celebrity clientele found her setting her sights on Los Angeles.
L.A. is where she honed her draping skills and learned the business of fashion, turning her signature pieces into a full-fledged eponymous label.
For Sarah Angell, a life in fashion was meant to be. Like Pegah, her obsession with clothes and shoes began at the young age of four with no style icons in sight.
By the time she was in high school, a fixation with vintage fashion found Sarah raiding her mom and aunt’s closets for fabulous ‘50s frocks before going out to dances and parties.
After graduating from The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, Los Angeles, with top honors in marketing, Sarah embarked on a career in wholesale sales and management. Discovering a penchant for product development, she nurtured close relationships with her designers.
CHAPTER ONE
Pegah and Sarah met at a Los Angeles-based apparel brand where they worked together as Creative Director and Executive Vice President. During their years as professional colleagues, they built a strong connection grounded by friendship, mutual admiration and respect, and often mused about launching their very own fashion label.
And so it began, in the fall of 2010…
As a lifelong lover of literature, Sarah came up with the name Prose & Poetry which captures Pegah’s expressive design vocabulary and unique ability for mixing fabrics and textures to create beautifully crafted clothing. Merging the straightforward and wearable, Prose, with the imaginative and whimsical, Poetry, Pegah creates pieces that are singularly her own.
Pegah and Sarah left their jobs, pooled their savings and began searching for the right partners to execute production and provide infrastructure for their new venture. Fast-forward to New York City, 2014, where Pegah joined forces with an established, family-owned apparel company looking to expand into the women’s contemporary arena.
Spring 2016 marked the launch of Prose & Poetry.
OUR MUSE
There is a woman. We have known her for years, yet she continues to surprise us. Ruled by her heart, her instinct and her voice, she exudes style in all of its guises. Sensuality and strength. Rebellion and reserve. Confidence and caution. She is an open book and a secret diary. She is writing her own story. She is Prose & Poetry.
